confused.com, hmm…

confused.com is a price comparison web-site. They gather lots of information about you, and offer no way to cancel your account. They also take the opportunity to spam your e-mail address with lots of unrelated offers.

Avoid.

I’m sorry you’ve had this experience when using our website; the information we take in order to return quotations is necessary to provide accurate quotes and not simply estimates. You can have this information removed from our databases, just email us from https://www.confused.com/pages/contact_us_email.jsp and we’ll take your account off our database. This will also then stop any emails being sent to your email address, but you can also unsubscribe from our marketing emails either by emailing us at the above link or by following the unsubscribe link in any of our emails.

If you have any other questions please feel free to drop us a line.

I think Rhys’ comment nicely proves my point. The only way to get them to clean up your details is to complain to them – then they’ll grudgingly delete your details. Their “contact” page doesn’t even list a physical address or telephone number.

confused.com’s business model is clearly to hoover up as many people’s (very valuable) details as possible and then hawk them to all-comers.
